The black Phone by Scott Derrickson

A fantastic psychological thriller with effective horror aspects that is a thrill to watch.

In terms of plot and cinematography, The Black Phone is rather straightforward. In terms of how the tale unfolded, there was nothing original or groundbreaking. What was most powerful, however, was the intoxicating nostalgic sense it provided.

This film succeeded in creating an enticing atmosphere of horror and uneasiness that flawlessly expressed what this movie was trying to tell by using a dark color palette, an approaching sense of desperation, and the excellent usage of supernatural components.

Mason Thames and Ethan Hawke both gave outstanding performances, resonating with their vastly different personalities and approaches.

If you think about it, The Black Phone is a fairly simple horror film, but it is highly powerful in how it affects its viewers, and that is what matters the most.
